Join us for an important online panel discussion tomorrow about the role of the media in the Iran conflict.
Panel includes Gavin Esler, Leila Molana-Allen and Fergal Keane.
The one hour event is on Zoom on Tuesday 17th March at 6pm.
Event Description
The Media at War: Navigating Truth in the Iran Conflict
As with all conflicts, the role of the media has become a major issue during the Iran War. Propaganda from both the US and Iranian governments, action-movie videos from the White House, strict censorship in many Middle East countries, problems with getting independent reporters into Iran, an internet blackout in Iran, and an outpouring of AI-generated fake videos. All are contributing to this conflict being a battle for truth.
Our Panel includes:
Gavin Esler (chair): journalist, television presenter and author. Former BBC Newsnight and News Channel presenter. Author of five novels and four non-fiction books.
Leila Molana-Allen: a Special Correspondent for the PBS Newshour in the United States, reporting from across the Middle East and Africa. She was raised in a first-generation British-Iranian family in London.
Fergal Keane: a veteran war correspondent for the BBC, who last month announced that he was leaving the BBC after 37 years at the corporation. He has written or co-authored 11 books, ranging from war reporting and history to memoirs.
