Do join us tomorrow evening for an urgent Media Society panel discussion via Zoom examining how British journalists have covered the Israel/Gaza conflict, and are now covering the latest historic developments in the story.

The discussion event is tomorrow, Tuesday 14th October, 6pm online.

Event Description

With today's extraordinary news pictures of developments in Israel and Gaza, tomorrow's Media Society Zoom panel discussion couldn't be more timely.

Two years after the October 7th attack and the start of the war, and in the week that the fighting has ended, our panel of senior British journalists will explore critical aspects of media coverage of the conflict, and how the media will cover the events as they unfold this week.

The panel includes:

  • Gavin Esler, the former BBC Newsnight presenter (who will chair the event)
  • Jon Williams, from the Rory Peck Trust
  • Elena Cosentino, Director of the International News Safety Institute (INSI)
  • Richard Burgess, the Director of BBC News Content
  • Nick Tattersall, Global Managing Editor, Reuters.

ITV News's John Ray has had to pull out of the discussion, as he has been sent to cover the latest developments as part of the ITV News team in Israel.

The event will be introduced by the Media Society President Nigel Dacre.
