Event Description

How is the media covering climate change? Should it be moving climate stories up the agenda, or is the media responding to an apathy towards climate news amongst readers and viewers?

In partnership with The Conduit in Covent Garden, this event brings together key experts to discuss the relationship between climate and the media. We’ll explore why some major outlets have cut back on dedicated climate reporting, and how misinformation thrives.

Our Panel:

  • Sue Saville (Chair) - conference moderator, media trainer and former ITV News correspondent.
  • Graihagh Jackson - presenter of The Climate Question, BBC World Service.
  • Giles Trendle - former Managing Editor Al-Jazeera and Co-Chair of Covering Climate Now.
  • Simon Evans - Senior Policy Editor, Carbon Brief, a UK-based website monitoring developments in climate science and media coverage.

The event will be introduced by the President of the Media Society, Nigel Dacre.

Doors open at 6pm on Thursday 26th June. Discussion starts at 6.30pm. Free welcome drink. Pay bar after the discussion.
