This is an email for Media Society members...

First of all, thank you for being a member of the Media Society. Your support is really important, and it allows us to carry on with our mission to provide an independent and impartial platform for the discussion of important media issues.

It's been a busy start to the year - planning the Spring/Summer events' schedule, holding our first event (a quick turnaround discussion on Iran and the media), and launching the Media Society Mentoring Scheme.

Here's a quick update on some key events and Society news:

Our next in-person discussion event is at The Conduit on Tuesday 28th April.

We'll be discussing crisis communications - how organisations should react to crises in the digital era, and how the crisis comms and PR industry is developing in the face of AI and the fragmented media world.

Panel so far: Anoushka Mutanda Dougherty (the BBC journalist and radio presenter, host of the BBC Sounds podcast Fame Under Fire) and Abby Mangold (MD of Mangold Consultancy, a PR company that specialises in crisis communications).

Deborah Turness: The Sir David Nicholas Lecture

The annual TV News lecture is presented this year by the former BBC CEO Deborah Turness.

The event is being organised by the ITN 1955 Club, in partnership with the Media Society and the Broadcast Journalism Training Council (BJTC).

An allocation of tickets for this event has been reserved exclusively for Media Society Full Members. Tickets for this event are selling quickly.

The event is at 44 Hallam St, W1W 6JJ on Tuesday 12th May. Doors open 6pm. Lecture event 6.30pm - 7.30pm. Followed by pay bar.

We're looking for mentees who:
• Are 24+ and post-education
• Have at least 2 years’ experience in media or a media-related role
• Are serious about professional development and open to feedback.

More information and application form here.
