We wanted to wish you Season’s Greetings from everyone at The Media Society.

We've had a busy year, bringing more events and content to our members and supporters:

  1. We've produced ten events - in-person and online. They covered the year's key media issues, from Trump and the media to how the media covered Gaza. You can see the full list of events on our website events page. They included our first Media Society on Tour event (in Durham in November).
  2. We recorded all our events, and uploaded them to our new upgraded and curated Media Society YouTube Channel.
  3. As well as events, we've diversified our output to include the new Media Society Substack, and we've produced the first of our new Media Society Podcasts.
  4. We developed a new brand identity, with a newly designed website, and adopted a new marketing newsletter platform.
  5. We appointed our first Media Society Ambassador, Ritula Shah.
  6. And behind the scenes, we've carried out a review of our Governance, and launched a new automated and user-friendly Membership system.

Next year, our priorities are to:

  • Continue to produce topical and lively events. The 2026 line-up already includes a virtual event on the latest media takeover bids, and an in-person discussion on the Crisis Comms industry.
  • Continue to roll out our podcasts and Substacks.
  • Launch our 2026 Mentoring Scheme.
  • Advertise for new trustees to join our Council (look out for the advert in the New Year on LinkedIn).
  • Put in place an ambitious membership drive. You'll see emails and marketing about that from January onwards. (Join the Media Society here.)

Message from our President, Nigel Dacre:

It has indeed been a busy and productive year for the Media Society, and we have big plans to further grow the Society next year. Many thanks to our members for their support, to our Council for all the work and effort into making our activities happen, to the many media experts who have appeared on our discussion panels, and to our friends and colleagues in our partner organisations. Wishing everyone a restful Christmas break, and a Happy New Year!
