Join The Media Society at The Conduit, Tuesday 28 April 2026. Seats are limited.
When a misstep can trend in minutes, crisis communications is becoming an imperative for many organisations. Join the Media Society for what will be a fascinating session on the crisis communications industry, and how it is developing in today’s fragmented, AI‑accelerated media landscape.
What we’ll discuss:
- How organisations respond to a media crisis
- What AI and social media have changed
- Lessons from recent UK flashpoints: the M&S cyber attack, reputation challenges at the BBC, and the Travelodge safety failing
- How newsrooms deal with the growing number of crisis communication agencies and experts.
The panel has now been confirmed:
- Anoushka Mutanda Dougherty - Host of the BBC Sounds podcast Fame Under Fire, which explores celebrity legal battles and the impact of social media on modern fame.
- Abby Mangold - MD of the crisis communications and media training company Mangold Consultancy. Former Producer/Director BBC TV Documentaries.
- Scott Langham - Senior Counsel, Reputation Management for the global agency VCCP. Previously, Head of Crisis at Freuds and Deputy Managing Editor of MailOnline.
- Simon McCoy (Chair) - Broadcaster and journalist, and former BBC presenter.
The discussion is being produced in partnership with The Conduit.
