The next Media Society in-person discussion event is at The Conduit on Tuesday 28th April.

We'll be talking crisis comms - how organisations should react to crises in the digital era, and how the crisis comms and PR industry is developing in the face of AI and the fragmented media world.

The panel so far is:

  • Simon McCoy (Chair) - Broadcaster and journalist, and former BBC presenter.
  • Anoushka Mutanda Dougherty - Host of the BBC Sounds podcast Fame Under Fire, which explores high-profile celebrity legal battles and the impact of social media on modern fame.
  • Abby Mangold - MD of the crisis communications and media training company Mangold Consultancy.

The Conduit in Covent Garden in London is a great venue for events. There will be opportunities for questions from the audience, and there is a pay bar for networking drinks before and after the discussion.

Doors open 6pm. Discussion 6.30pm-7.30pm. The Conduit: 6 Langley St, London WC2H 9JA

The Media Society Mentoring Scheme

We still have spaces on the Media Society Mentoring Scheme for mentees - but the deadline for applications (the end of April 2026) is coming up.

If you're an early-career media professional or journalist (or you know of someone who is at this stage of their career), this free, year-long scheme offers the chance to be mentored by an experienced industry mentor.

More information and application form here.
